Two and a Half Hours of Sleep
Noah Cicero must be tired: he only got two and a half hours of sleep yesterday. He spent the rest of his time working on this release for none other than ‘Pangur Ban Party’ the greatest Pangur to ban any party. I woke up this morning to see this waiting for me.
‘Two and a Half Hours of Sleep’ begins just like any insomniac’s tale: with watching the USA Network: characters welcome. ‘Burn Notice’ kept our intrepid hero awake as he lived a rich fulfilling life of watching TV at 4 AM. We learn a lot about Noah’s situation, of how he substitute teaches. I like knowing Noah wears Pajamas at nights. Pajamas are official. When you wear Pajamas to sleep, Mr. Sandman doesn’t fuck with you as much.
We get a play by play account of the school day. I have taught before. I taught kids lots of important relevant information. I coached them. Each period feels a little too close to home. At least 1st period is easy enough. Second period is the same thing. Maybe he’ll make it through the day, pass go and collect $67 (Monopoly seems to pay better than real life). By the third period Noah smacks down his dumb-assed students.
I learned that schools block alt lit. I don’t agree with this block. Alt lit is the only way we’re going to teach future generations about boosting, re-blogging, and other valuable work experiences. If they don’t learn how to create personal brands online, how do they expect to get laid? Students may have to resort to music therapy. While I love music, this seems like a terrible idea. Noah drinks way more coffee in one day than I do in an entire year (caffeine-free since 2003).
At the end of the day students get restless. Noah fucks them up. He lays down some serious law, detention slips for bad-ass mamma jammas. Kids are usually pretty difficult by the end of the day so I sympathize with poor Noah. People ask to go to the bathroom, tell him about router codes, and generally interrupt his chain of thought.
Then it’s over. I liked this Pangur Ban Party release. This is my first review of Noah Cicero’s book. Perhaps I mentioned him before, in passing, but lately his online internet presence has been growing. He’s been nominated as the official representative for the Ohio alt lit community. He ages well (obviously). What is next in store for this Ohio native? All I hope is he substitute teaches again and gets some sleep next time.
